Are you party to a conflict and not eligible for subsidized legal aid and are the costs for a good mediator a hurdle for you?

Schonewille & Schonewille Legal Mediation launched an initiative in Rotterdam to make high quality solution-focussed mediation accessible to everyone: S & S Social Mediation.

S&S Social Mediation | Solution focussed

When are you eligible for S & S social mediation in an employment or a business dispute?

This initiative applies to freelancers, retailers or small businesses with an annual turnover of up to € 55,000.

What do you get?

A solution-focussed mediation process consisting of 8 contact hours or 3 meetings led by a mediator. If after 5 contact hours or 2 meetings there is no prospect of a solution in sight, the mediator makes a non-binding proposal on a potential solution, taking into account all interests of both parties (mediator proposal). During the final meeting, this proposal forms the basis for further discussions. If parties agree to a joint solution, this will be recorded in writing by the mediator, if necessary in a formal settlement agreement.

What are contact hours?

A contact hour is the time during a mediation session where you meet in person with the mediator. Preparatory-work and time for telephone or email consultation fall outside the contact hours calculation.

What are the costs?

This initiative applies to freelancers, retailers or small businesses with an annual turnover of up to € 55,000,- or a net profit less than € 15.000 and/or businesses in financially challenging situations.
